May Letter to Delegates

Posted on May 16, 2010  •

Attention CTU Delegates,

At this point, we feel our message is clear and precise. Here is why the S.E.A. is the most logical choice :

  • I am a contract expert with an established political background, who understands the inner workings of CPS and CTU.
  • All of our officer candidates have specific expertise and experience.
  • Our officer candidates have the ability to run the Chicago Teachers Union with efficiency and accountability from their first day in office!

Friday, May 21, 2010 is our opportunity to put a halt to the deception and double talk of the last two CTU Presidents. Their poorly negotiated contracts have systematically compromised our job security, which has translated into extremely high job losses and a vulnerable union. Our present plight demonstrates the harmful effects of the inexperienced and mediocre leaderships that have come out of the classroom to lead our union. As the leader of the S.E.A. Caucus, I’m the only PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE that has worked his way through the ranks.

I have been a Teacher, Delegate, CTU Mediator, Lobbyist, and a Field Representative, which has afforded me the opportunity to gain the insight, and the experience necessary to effectively negotiate our next contract.

As the school’s delegate, your members are counting on your judgment.

This is a rare opportunity to elect a qualified union professional who is the ONLY candidate that does not have the age or the years to retire. Realistically, how hard is someone going to work for our contract when they can retire tomorrow?

Remember, the person you elect will lead negotiations for the next contract.

VOTE for the School Employee Alliance! We are # 2 on the ballot!

Respectfully and In Unity,
Theodore “Ted” M. Hajiharis
S.E.A. Candidate for President of the Chicago Teachers Union
